First of all the title.

With very few exceptions, titles in all forms of artistic expression are more than a mere piece of information on what the body of work is about. In the case of “The River”, the title introduces the actual meaning of the composition, the motivations that inspired it. It is a consistent theme throughout the various phases of its creation, execution, recording and in its future representation. In this era of ‘liquid’ music, of songs which are shuffled and bundled randomly in mp3player, ‘The River’ brings us back to the glorious but almost forgotten tradition of the ‘concept’ piece. It is therefore not a collection of songs but a homogeneous and coherent body of work in which lyrics, music and arrangements fuse together harmoniously within this concept of a “river”, a place of influx of and at the same time an outlet for almost thirty years of music research as a composer, musician, arranger and producer and which finds its most accomplished expression in this work. A concept, an image, a suggestion - that one of the river – that lends itself to multiple interpretations, none of which excludes the others. Here it represents life, with the two river banks representing the dualism in which all human beings exist: a reality which is made up of good and evil, male and female, life and death, night and day. It is the river that we travel on and in which we identify ourselves, choosing to stop on one or other of its banks, sometimes yearning for and missing the other and in which we get dragged through by the current and by the whims of chance. This concept is further underpinned by the subtitle –“ Both Sides of the Story” – which bounces from one song of the album to another, and will be a key element in the live performance dimension, which is an integral part of this project. You are all welcome…the river awaits!

Tell Me Why Black Stare One Love Snowbound Never Look Back Regrets This Time Take It Away What Do You Feel Now Fly High Our Trail Of Tears

Tell Me Why
Standing in this shattered world
Wipe the past away
While the brightest dreams are falling down
I’m just searching for the way
And the beating of my heart, pounding loud
Asks the skies

Tell me why...

No answer came from up above
No sound that I could use
All those dreams I can’t replace
No seed to start a bloom
And the pieces of my life, spinning ‘round
This barren room

Tell me why…

Tell Me Why . Black Stare One Love Snowbound Never Look Back Regrets This Time Take It Away What Do You Feel Now Fly High Our Trail Of Tears

Black Stare
Looking down, through the window a glance over my soul
sinking down, through the deepness I’m waiting...
Something I can understand something that I know
hoping it will seem worthwhile and meaningful
And the world, outside my window seems dense, cars drifting slow
raining down, like a blanket so silent...
My dreams and countless regrets drowning in this maze,
through this dripping window pane, nothing’s real

Memories crash, on ripping waters
against this wall of recrimination and ice
memories crash, and hide away the truth
and all my mistakes and guilt, all I see is just a black stare
reflected in the glass and all the doors slammed shut

I wish I could wipe all these raindrops away, and see clearly now
it’s all out there just a glimpse in the distance, just out of reach
maybe if I run I’ll be able to catch it, to make it mine
then I’ll find my way, back home from this wrong place.

Tell Me Why Black Stare . One Love Snowbound Never Look Back Regrets This Time Take It Away What Do You Feel Now Fly High Our Trail Of Tears

One Love
There's a place where dreams come from
ain't so easy road, not at all
and it's hard to find it if your mind is that wrong.
It's a place you'd better watch in
just take a big breath then dive deeply into it
and your eyes will see what you've always been see the light, the heat.

One song can change your life, if you sing it loud
one soul can warm your tired arms
one bowl can feed the crowd if it's full of love
one love will let you shine.
Don't be afraid to care, smile at someone else
when the night comes down, just unlock your heart, share the light the heat.
One song can change your life, if you sing it loud
one cloud means the sky will cry
one tree will thank the cloud, for those drops of life
one love will get you high.
One song can change your life, if you sing it loud
one soul can warm your tired arms
one man can change the world, giving peace a chance
one love will get you high.

Tell Me Why Black Stare One Love . Snowbound Never Look Back Regrets This Time Take It Away What Do You Feel Now Fly High Our Trail Of Tears

Snowbound
Spoke to a girl just like me we didn't get on too well
scent of wine waves like mine couldn't really tell
then she cuts me off a slice of pride as I prepare to start.
Take me to a place of glory found a spot to lie
rack those brain seal them closed whatever makes her cry
and then she offers up her integrity and now believes that she's gonna fly high

So alone a razor thought and it turned her around
left alone erase a thought as it turned her around
found a place to go, space to grow, sowed the seed harvest the ground
the winds turned cold now she's snowbound.

Gliding through the market where sounds have a scent
the sun's so low those eyes are wet
Trying to find smiling faces in stone, watch amazed how the grass grow
but everytime she looks back,
the room seems bear the homecoming is heard so clearly

So alone...

Skies unfold, trying to find smiling faces in stone
but everytime she looks back the room seems bear
and everytime she looks back it seems quite clear

So alone...

Tell Me Why Black Stare One Love Snowbound . Never Look Back Regrets This Time Take It Away What Do You Feel Now Fly High Our Trail Of Tears

Never Look Back
Nana nana na nana, Nana nana na nana
Flame burns before the cold, do you know the way to make it last forever?
Pain doesn't stop to hurt, do you really need to make it last forever?
Days run fast. Do you think their shadows should be lasting forever?
Before your time has gone, you need to know.

Nana nana na nana, Nana nana na nana

Your life is mind and blood, waste his time who tries to make it last forever.
Beyond the distant trees, go and seize the days before they leave you forever.
Here and now is the rule to let this moment living forever.
Before your time has gone, you really need to now.

Somewhere a breeze is drifting over a golden road.
Look straight on your way to go, keep your eyes wide, don't change your course.
Never look back, never look back to the harbor where you came from, no...

Nana nana na nana, Nana nana na nana

Somewhere a breeze is drifting over a golden road.
Look straight on your way to go, keep your eyes wide, don't change your course.
Never look back, never look back to the harbor where you came from, no...

Tell Me Why Black Stare One Love Snowbound Never Look Back . Regrets This Time Take It Away What Do You Feel Now Fly High Our Trail Of Tears

Regrets
Flown away, through the clouds
tears and smile, old lullabies, from my past
I can see them all, dazed by my imagination
I play with their ghosts and lay down, among my, regrets.

Digging down beneath the growing mud
bones of my soul, it's all I have from a past that won't return
my river has no mouth.

Flown away, through the clouds
tears and smiles, your sweetest eyes, by my side
some lonely footsteps...
on my private sunset.

Why.... the night is gettin' longer can you see me from your side?
(can you hear me when I cry?)
Why.... the dark keeps on surrounding me
I cannot move, I cannot fly
is this the only way to keep you tight?

Tell Me Why Black Stare One Love Snowbound Never Look Back Regrets . This Time Take It Away What Do You Feel Now Fly High Our Trail Of Tears

This Time
I've got no prize, I've got no crown to show you what I am, but....
I've got empty heart and empty bed in the crowded space out there
What's gone is gone and I don't give a damn just living day by day.
If a dream should catch my heart again, I'll be there.

Try to find the way you are, walking down the streets.
Recognize the faces and smile, blessing all your dreams.
And when you look back on your path there's nothing to disown.
Don't let 'em stop your walk, pack your stuff and go.

Get out of their screaming world
Put smile on their fucking words
Dark blind eyes, bleary minds,
still surprise they ain't so much to feel?
Like a swarm of kinetic souls,
they won't get, they won't get me.
Not this time.

This time, this time........

Tell Me Why Black Stare One Love Snowbound Never Look Back Regrets This Time . Take It Away What Do You Feel Now Fly High Our Trail Of Tears

Take It Away
Stepping out, dressed up to shock, you'll move in around
Leather trick, I can't tell your own, it grows up your score
I gotta tell you hun, your lips move but i can't hear what you're saying
Something in my head keeps on crying me out to run away

Don't try to use you bottom, babe, take it away from me
Your smile could make my sorrow, babe, take it away from me

I gotta tell you hun, you look like a beach to an hopeless cast away eyes
Till he'll find out how this island will so soon turn into hell

Don't try to use you bottom, babe, take it away from me
Your smile could make my sorrow, babe, take it away from me
Don't try to use you bottom...

Don't try to use you bottom, babe, take it away from me
Your smile could make my sorrow, babe, take it away from me
Don't try to use you bottom, babe, take it away from me
Your smile would be my sorrow, babe, take it away from me
...take it away from me
...babe, take it away from me
...babe, take it away from me

Tell Me Why Black Stare One Love Snowbound Never Look Back Regrets This Time Take It Away . What Do You Feel Now Fly High Our Trail Of Tears

What Do You Feel Now?
What do you feel now...?
What do you need now...?
Now that your dreams die under the sun
What do you feel now...?
What do you miss now...?
Now that your sun fades into the night
now that your life fades into the night
Do you smile now...? Do you cry now...?
Echoes of past days are leaving your time
Do you beg now...? Do you pray now...?
Dead grows up faster into your life

Tell Me Why Black Stare One Love Snowbound Never Look Back Regrets This Time Take It Away What Do You Feel Now . Fly High Our Trail Of Tears

Fly High
Don't be afraid to fly high, don't worry man, this is your world.
Throw away your pain and fly high, don't worry man, this is your way.

Here we go, it's the next leg on this lonely road.
Crazy thing, life goes on, so you find yourself still moving on

Don't be afraid to fly high, don't worry man, this is your world.
Throw away your pain and fly high, don't worry man, this is your world.
Don't be afraid to fly high, don't worry man, this is your world.
Running in the rain and fly high, don't worry man, this is your way

Years ago..., I was drawing big waves to ride on.
Ripples on a flat sea..., after all is what I learned to see.

Passing through the night, deaf and blind, the light is over.
Passing through my life, I've seen the Love spread out and die.
But holds on, over me...

Don't be afraid to fly high, don't worry man, this is your world.
Throw away your pain and fly high, don't worry man, this is your world
Don't be afraid to fly high, don't worry man, this is your world.
Running in the rain and fly high, don't worry man, this is your way
Don't be afraid to fly high...

Tell Me Why Black Stare One Love Snowbound Never Look Back Regrets This Time Take It Away What Do You Feel Now Fly High . Our Trail Of Tears

Our Trail Of Tears
This face has no name. Red shadows through the rain
Born upon the prairie where the wind blew free
And nothing broke the light of sun from God and me
Now, hopes are dust, memories burning fast

Walking through these empty years
Forefathers cry our trail of tears
And the sky is broken now
Don't know when and how

I live in the wind. I am small and weak
Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes behold
The Spirit so that I may understand the world
Oh Great Mystery, I don't know what I'm seeing

Walking through these empty years
Forefathers cry our trail of tears
and the sky is broken now
Don't know when and how

And make my eyes respect
The trees, the wind, the last sunset
And if my heart and mind is one
It's not been vain our trail of tears
